Procrastination at its finest

Procrastination — isn’t that worst! When times are tough and you want to be productive, procrastination has a way of creeping in to pull you further away from your goals but sometimes it helps me relieve my creative block or gain some new insight. Let’s walk through things that I did when I procrastinate things to make them useful.

  1. Read article
I end up reading many articles about productivity and how to achieve a better life while laying on my bed. It’s amazing how many people think it’s hard making time for the things you really want to do, but in reality, we sometimes forget that spending time reading actually gives people new perspectives and ideas.
  2. Watch a documentary video.
Watching documentaries is the best way to learn about people, places, and events while slacking off. There is new information that gives me new knowledge and perspective about life that I could pour into ideas.
  3. Plan the deadline earlier
I had a completely different mindset with people about planning my day. At my uni life, I plan all my tasks on the notion and rate it from low to high priority just to know which things that I must finish first then I can slack off waiting for the lower priority to meet the deadline (well, I don’t recommend this) but than this behavior change when I get a job, I do all my tasks earlier so I could take a good rest and continue working on it at night cuz I’m a night-owl (but sometimes I push myself too far and forget my health like drinking coffee 4 times a day).

Well, in the end, the best thing to do is to find a solution that works for you, and use it consistently. If you don’t have one yet, ask the people around you what works for them. And if they’re feeling reserved and unwilling to communicate, try taking a walk outside or doing some other kind of physical activity; studies show that moving around can help with getting your mind off your distraction. At the very least, keep in mind that whatever you’re doing — even reading this article on procrastination — is far better than not doing anything at all.
